Since 2002, ABC television has had a reality television hit series with “The Bachelor”. So far, twelve seasons of “The Bachelor” have aired. With VH1’s recent deal with Warner Bros., all twelve seasons will eventually air on VH1. Last week, the first six seasons of “The Bachelor” aired, giving me a chance to review this reality t.v. classic.

I decided that everything I ever needed to know about dating, I could have learned from studying “The Bachelor.” Now I’ll share these tips with you.

To start with, rejection is never easy for anyone—the rejecter or the rejected. This is shown time and time again when the bachelor is planning who to eliminate at the rose ceremony. This is especially true the longer you know someone. So the tip: remember that rejection is hard on both sides.

Another thing to remember is that your date is not a mind reader. Unless you tell someone what you’re thinking, they’re not necessarily going to know that you think they’re annoying or rude or whatever the case may be. Especially when you’re first getting to know someone, people aren’t necessarily themselves for a variety of reason. So speak up if something is bothering you but be gentle about it and then, if there’s enough interest in someone, give them some time and see if things change a bit as they relax.

The final tip for today is… don’t date more than one person from the same household. It just leads to drama.
